The Lyndale Open House fast approaches! This year’s Open House will take place on Wednesday, April 8th from 5:30-8pm (note the change from Friday to Wednesday).

The Lyndale Open House will once again take place at the Lyndale Community School (34th and Grand) and will be your best chance to catch up with community organizations, taste food from local restaurants, and play games with your kids at the carnival.

The Lyndale Neighborhood Association (LNA) is an award-winning, nationally recognized community-based organization in South Minneapolis on the cutting edge of community development. The Whittier Alliance is a neighborhood organization dedicated to building a flourishing and distinctive world class neighborhood.  LNA and Whittier are currently seeking a Community Organizer for the Somali Community to split their time working with the two neighborhoods to build awareness and participation by the Somali communities.

There was a lot going on in the neighborhood this past year.  Some highlights included having LNA leading the charge on Nicollet Votes, the continued growth of the ESL Program, graduating two cohorts from the Women’s Leadership Program, and the beginning of some interesting work on renters’ issues.

We need your help to get Lyndale off to a great start in 2015!  The financial support we receive from community members is critical to LNA’s ability to work with community members to shape Lyndale’s future.

There were a lot of highlights that stand out from 2014 including having LNA leading the charge on Nicollet Votes, the continued growth of the ESL Program, graduating two cohorts from the Women’s Leadership Program, and the beginning of some interesting work on renters’ issues.

We were able to celebrate La Posada this year thanks to the community. You were volunteers, performers, chefs, and participants.

The cafeteria at Lyndale School was transformed by papel picado (banners) and paper flowers made by Doña Pepina Guzman and her family. Doña Pepina arrived to Lyndale School early to direct a team of volunteers who set it all up.

On Saturday, February 14th, community members and Lyndale staff gathered to thank Taylor Shevey for all her hard work at Lyndale the last four years and wish her the best in her next adventure!

Spring is fast approaching and as I’m sure you’ve noticed there is a lot of trash along our boulevards and streets when the snow melts!

We’re hoping for melted snow and warm weather for our spring neighborhood cleanup on Saturday, April 18th. You can come to the Lyndale Neighborhood Community Center between 10 and 1 that day to pick up treats, a route and garbage bags to assist your cleaning!

Homeowner Eligibility
Metro Paint-A-Thon is a program that helps low-income seniors and people with permanent physical disabilities continue to live independently in their own homes. A volunteer team is matched to scrape, prime, and paint the exterior of each eligible home/garage, thereby keeping it well-maintained, beautiful, and an asset to the neighborhood. All of this is done at no cost to the homeowner.

Eligible Homeowners Must:

On Wednesday, January 7th Jamie Graham DDS and Anna Seime DDS from Fiant Dental attended our housing meeting to present information about the “halo style” sign they plan to have installed on the new dental office at 3225 Lyndale Avenue and to ask for support for the Expansion of Conditional Use Permit. Because the business is in a residential area the signage must be approved by the City.
