Youth and Family Safety Initiative
As part of our Lyndale Youth and Family Safety Initiative this summer, we
will be holding a free Community Barbecue and Puppet Show on Friday, July
18th from 6:00 to 8:00 in the Charles Horn Terrace Gardens on 3100 Blaisdell
(before the Rain Garden). This will be an excellent opportunity to meet
neighbors in this area, our Cultural Outreach for the Minneapolis Police,
and sample elotes (corn on the cob), Sambusa (a Somali appetizer), Beef
Franks, and more! Open Eye Theatre will be performing "The Adventures of
Katie Tomatie" at 7:00. Join us!
To make this event go smoothly, we need your help. We have the following
volunteer positions available for Friday:

Set-up (including moving picnic tables, and setting up registration, food table, sign makers) |

Greeters and Info gatherers. We will need help greeting people getting sign in information, as well as directing. |

Flyering
Flyering the 3000 to 3200 blocks of Blaisdell, Pleasant Ave., and Pillsbury Ave. for the July 18th, and August 13th Events. Doorknock with us on these blocks.
Summer Camp in the Garden
Donate your time to volunteer in the garden with the Summer Camp anytime during Tuesday, Wednesday, or Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
Donate or help build a picnic table, finish the pergala, donate perrenial plants, or straw.
Make a wooden sign for the garden, that helps community members know when they can use the garden space.
Harvest Festival
At Harvest Festival, we will enjoy food cooked by the kids all day. It will take place on Wednesday August 13th from 5:30 to 7:30
at the Zion Lutheran Church parking lot on the corner of 33rd and Pillsbury Ave. We’re looking for helpers to set up tables and
chairs from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. We’re also looking for people who know how to run a sound system to help facilitate this. We’re
looking for help to serve the food from 5:30 to 6:30 pm and help cooking with the kids during the day.

Garden Volunteers

Lyndale Walkers
The Lyndale Walkers are looking for new and returning Walkers for 2007. Walking is a great way to:
- Get to know your neighbors
- Get some exercise (for you or your dog)
- Continue to make Lyndale a safer place to live
Membership is free and includes a fashionable yellow hat. Walking times and locations are flexible. Join with a neighbor! Get involved by contacting Jeanne Wiener at 612.824.8337.
Office Help
The Lyndale Neighborhood Association is looking for Lyndale residents who can commit two or three hours a week to help out in our office. Tasks vary according to each volunteer’s interests, but could include filing, helping with mail and answering the phone. If you are interested in helping your neighborhood thrive, contact Sarah at 612.824.9402 ext. 12. LNN Staff
The Lyndale Neighborhood News (LNN) is looking for Lyndale residents interested in contributing to our monthly newspaper. Do you have story ideas you would like to see published in the paper? Or do you have great photos from neighborhood events you want to see printed? Join the LNN staff! We are looking for writers, photographers and editors who are willing to donate between four to ten hours of their time a month. If interested, please contact Sarah at Sarah@lyndale.org
