<p>Tired of all the garbage on the streets?  Want to help clean up the neighborhood?</p>
<p>Come help clean up the neighborhood at the Spring Litter Outa Lyndale.  Join us on Saturday, April 24th as we help turn Lyndale into the neighborhood it should be.</p>
<p>Come pick up your route, bags, and gloves anytime between 10am and 1:00 pm at the LNA Offices (3537 Nicollet Avenue).  We’ll have some light breakfast food to help people get revved up to go!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kingfield, Lyndale, East Harriet and CARAG neighborhood organizations are partnering with Hennepin County to sponsor a neighborhood collection event for residents to safely and properly dispose of their unwanted garden and household hazardous wastes.</p>
<p><strong>The event will be held:<br />

South employee parking lot. Enter off Kings Hwy/Dupont Ave.<br />
<em>Be sure to bring your ID to drop-off; residency in Minneapolis will be verified.</em></p>
<p>The county will accept many household hazardous wastes at no cost, including: mercury items (fluorescent bulbs and HID lamps, thermostats and thermometers); pesticides; automotive wastes (fuels, fuel additives, starter fluid, waxes); aerosol cans, corrosives, flammables, gas cylinders (propane less than 40 lbs.; specialty gases less than 59 lbs. will be evaluated; some may not be accepted due to management restrictions), paint, lead-based paint chips, solvents and thinners; pool, photographic and hobby chemicals; rechargeable tools and household batteries.  Items are accepted from households only, business waste cannot be accepted.</p>
<p>Items not accepted at his event include: appliances, asbestos, electronics, explosives, garbage (food waste, furniture, carpet, lumber, empty paint cans), gas cylinders (propane greater than 40 lbs.; gases requiring special management and all gases greater than 59 lbs.), medical or infectious waste, motor oil and filters, radioactive waste (smoke detectors), recyclables (scrap metal, paper, cardboard, etc.), tires, vehicle lead acid batteries.</p>
<p>This collection event provides residents with a convenient neighborhood location to bring their problem wastes. As a year-round alternative, Hennepin County provides residents with permanent drop-off facilities located at 1400 W. 96th St., Bloomington; and 8100 Jefferson Highway, Brooklyn Park. <p>“One of the things we’re doing this year is providing learning opportunities for people along the way,” said Randy Ferguson who is the tour coordinator; “so it will be a great opportunity for people who want to learn how to compost, put in raised vegetable beds, or operate local community gardens.”</p>
<p>“To help people understand the range of gardens in the neighborhood the tour will include a variety of gardens, including those in their first year to others that are very well established.  Every year people are amazed at these fantastic garden’s hidden away in Lyndale’s back yards.”</p>

<p>The tour will end with a community celebration at the Blaisdell Avenue Rain Garden, located at 32<sup>nd</sup> &amp; Blaisdell.  The community celebration will include light refreshments and a drawing for the garden raffle.  This year’s garden raffle will include prizes from Wagner&#8217;s Nursery, MN Landscape Arboretum, and other great prizes.</p>
<p>Proceeds from the Garden Tour support the work of the Lyndale Neighborhood Association’s Environment Committee, which include projects to preserve green-space and to build a sustainable community.</p>
<p>The Lyndale Neighborhood Association is a diverse community driven organization that brings people together to work on common issues and opportunities to ensure all community members have the opportunity to live, work, and play in a safe, vibrant, and sustainable community.</p>
<p>Tickets are $7.00 and are available at the LNA office (3537 Nicollet Avenue), from Environment Committee Members, and on-line here.  Admittance also enters you into the raffle and a chance to win one of three different prizes, including a wine basket and garden items.</p>
