The proposed changes to parking along 1^st Avenue would add additional parking along the east side of the street from 38^th to 33^rd street.  The addition of the extra parking and the bike lane would mean that the street would only have a single motor vehicle travel lane, instead of the two it has now.

The Lyndale Neighborhood is actively seeking input from community members, especially those that live along 1^st or Blaisdell on what they think about the proposed changes.  It is expected that the neighborhood will adopt a formal set of recommendations at either the April or May General Membership Meetings.  Questions and comments should be directed to Mark at mark@lyndale.org or 612.824.9402 x 16.

The Minneapolis Public Works Department is working on a restriping project (not a reconstruction project) to add bike lanes on 1st and Blaisdell Avenues between 15th Street and 40th Street.

The City received federal transportation funding through the Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program for this restriping.  The project fits into the City’s adopted goal of creating a multi-modal transportation system.

As part of the project, parking changes are being explored on 1st Avenue between 33rd Street and 40th Street.  This will likely include modifications to existing parking restrictions and/or the addition of parking.
