This is your chance to help them get the recognition they deserve!

To help recognize the people who are making Lyndale a safe, vibrant, and sustainable neighborhood the Lyndale Neighborhood Association is starting a new Community Service Award!

The awards will be presented at the Lyndale Annual Meeting on Monday, June 25^th at Painter Park (34^th & Lyndale) from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.  Each award winner will receive an engraved brick and certificate of appreciation, the brick is representative of their effort to help build a better neighborhood.

2009 Community Service Award Nomination Form

Community Service Award criteria are:

• Nominees must have been active in making the Lyndale Neighborhood a safe, vibrant, and sustainable neighborhood within the preceding 10 years.
• Nominees do not need to be active volunteers with the Lyndale Neighborhood Association.
• Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria:
  • Impact their work and commitment has had on improving the Lyndale Neighborhood
  • The amount of time and energy they have spent working on behalf of the neighborhood
• Nominees may be individuals, groups of people, businesses, or organizations that work to make Lyndale a better place to live, work, and play.
• Nominees can not be current Board or Staff members of the Lyndale Neighborhood Association.

Hennepin Lake Liquor’s 27^th Annual Community Wine Tasting Benefit

Here’s your chance to support the Lyndale Neighborhood Association and have a great time.

Everyone is invited to come celebrate outdoor city living with a tour of gardens located in the Lyndale Neighborhood.  This year’s tour will include nine beautiful neighborhood gardens.

“One of the things we’re doing this year is providing learning opportunities for people along the way,” said Randy Ferguson who is the tour coordinator; “so it will be a great opportunity for people who want to learn how to compost, put in raised vegetable beds, or operate local community gardens.”

“To help people understand the range of gardens in the neighborhood the tour will include a variety of gardens, including those in their first year to others that are very well established.  Every year people are amazed at these fantastic garden’s hidden away in Lyndale’s back yards.”

What: Lyndale Neighborhood Garden Expo

Where: Lyndale Neighborhood – Tour starts at Butter Bakery and Café (3544 Grand Avenue)

When: Thursday, July 16

6:00 to 8:30 pm

Ticket Info: Tickets are $7.00 each and include one raffle ticket, additional raffle tickets are $3

The tour will end with a community celebration at the Blaisdell Avenue Rain Garden, located at 32^nd & Blaisdell.  The community celebration will include light refreshments and a drawing for the garden raffle.  This year’s garden raffle will include prizes from Wagner’s Nursery, MN Landscape Arboretum, and other great prizes.

Proceeds from the Garden Tour support the work of the Lyndale Neighborhood Association’s Environment Committee, which include projects to preserve green-space and to build a sustainable community.

The Lyndale Neighborhood Association is a diverse community driven organization that brings people together to work on common issues and opportunities to ensure all community members have the opportunity to live, work, and play in a safe, vibrant, and sustainable community.

Tickets are $7.00 and are available at the LNA office (3537 Nicollet Avenue), from Environment Committee Members, and on-line here.  Admittance also enters you into the raffle and a chance to win one of three different prizes, including a wine basket and garden items.

Buy your online Garden Expo Tickets here through PayPal.  We will mail tickets up until July 10th.  After that they can be picked up at the LNA office or will be at will call at Butter on the night of the Tour.
