Join us on Saturday, December 10th for Lyndale's annual La Posada event. Lyndale’s La Posada is based on the traditional Mexican Holiday celebration which traditionally is celebrated on the streets of Mexico in processions of people knocking on doors asking for a place to stay. They do this for the nine days before Christmas following Mary and Joseph’s journey. In Lyndale we celebrate La Posada
by sharing traditional food, drinks, and song. Community members have the opportunity to celebrate the holidays bilingually and biculturally in a festive and inclusive family environment. This year’s event will feature free photos with Santa Dan, tradational Mexican folk dancing by Mexico Lindo, games, and lots of food.

We will work with a variety of materials from recycled art materials to clay. Our goal is to bring kids together to create interesting and fun art activities while parents have a chance to attend the Lyndale General Membership Meetings. All are welcome!
Led by Paula Landis, a Lyndale neighboor. She leads the adult and kids yoga classes at Painter Park. She is an early childhood teacher at the YWCA with a BA in Early Childhood Education. Her goal is to offer fun and interesting activities for kids to and to encourage more people to attend our community meetings.
Lyndale Youth and Parks held a snowbuild night at Painter Park on Thursday, March 10th at 5:00pm. Mitch from Painter arranged for the outdoor recreation person to come and she helped people strap on snowshoes to run around in. For many, it was their first time trying them out. We had a fire pit burning with the help of some donated neighborhood wood. The fresh popcorn, beef franks, and the hot chocolate sustained our energy as we built snow creatures and colored the snow. We were joined by young and old. And although we are all winners, we gave out Sonny money for Crema Café to the champions who tied. Come to our next Youth and Parks meeting to help plan more fun neighborhood events!
5th graders, Sedrique Ametor, Libin Shek-Yusuf, Sharmarke Hashi, and Sherhan Mohamed, had a great time at the River Rendezvous in Bloomington and recounted their experiences in detail. Prior to the field trip, the students had studied about early American history in Ms. Kruse’s and Mr. Pederson’s 5th grade classes. The River Rendezvous consisted of over 50 stations and a variety of activities replicating the pioneer days. Like the Renaissance Fair, the participants wore “authentic” costumes and traditional dress of the period. Native Americans wore deerskin clothes and British soldiers were in period uniform. The students also observed that little boys wore dresses like girls until about the age of three or four.
